A Thunderclap has been created to help spread the word about #PaulsPledge a campaign led by Paul Pugh, who was the victim of an unprovoked and vicious attack which left him having to learn how to walk and talk again. Paul is campaigning to encourage people to walk away from a fight, to think twice about starting a fight, and to call time on violent crime.

On Monday, he will launch a short documentary he has bravely made, on the exact spot in Ammanford where he was assaulted eight years ago. He will then ask people to sign a pledge to never condone violence and aggression, and to encourage others to do the same by spreading the word on social media. The documentary is very powerful, it starts with the 999 call to emergency services and CCTV footage of the scene. As part of the campaign, it will be shown at schools, colleges and youth clubs in Carmarthenshire.

What is a Thunderclap?

A Thunderclap is designed to maximise the impact of a social media message by allowing everyone to automatically share the same tweet at the same time. This has the potential to fill people’s newsfeeds with the message, which should encourage them to join their friends and share the message themselves. It has the potential to make the message, and its associated hashtag to trend really quickly.

What do I do?

If you use Twitter personally, please consider signing up to our Thunderclap this is a social media app that links with your Twitter account. If we get 100 people to sign up to the Thunderclap, it will automatically tweet a message from your account at 2pm on Monday, December 22, so please sign up ASAP.

Welsh: https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/20514-addewidpaul

When you reach the Thunderclap.it webpage, click ‘support with Twitter’, and it should take you through  the process easily. It will ask you to authorise a link with your own Twitter account (please ensure you are signed in to your own personal Twitter account so the correct link is made).

**Please sign up to both the Welsh and English Thunderclaps**

There is a chance that we may not receive the support of 100 people, in which case the Thunderclap fails. If this happens, PLEASE consider tweeting anyway, here is the suggested tweet:

#PaulsPledge – proud to be taking a stand against violence and aggression. Make a pledge, show your support http://youtu.be/FVPGtmkbm8g

#PaulsPledge – yn falch o wneud safiad yn erbyn trais ac ymddygiad ymosodol. Llofnodwch yr addewid i gefnogi http://youtu.be/FVPGtmkbm8g
